Learn to Waterski
The quickest and easiest way to learn to ski on a cable is to hire a kneeboard (included in the price). As the name suggests, you kneel on the board and because your centre of gravity is much lower than on skiis or a wakeboard you`ll find it easier to navigate around the corners of the cable ski (as you will be more stable).
After mastering the kneeboard you can move onto waterskiis or hire a wakeboard (additional cost) - see our Learn to Wakeboard page for more information.
What to expect
When you arrive, book in at our desk which is located inside the building.
One of our staff will then sort you out with kit (wetsuit, buoyancy aid, kneeboard) and when you are changed one of our British Waterski Federation approved instructors will instruct you on safety and how to navigate the course on a kneeboard - then it`s your turn to put it into practice on the water!. Participants must be 12 years and over (except for Saturday morning Kids Club for 8-12 year olds).
What do I need to bring?
Wetsuit, buoyancy aid and equipment hire for waterskiing/kneeboarding is included in the session price. You will need to bring swimwear to wear underneath your wetsuit and a towel and shampoo
for showering afterwards. When you are learning to ski/kneeboard if you fall off on the course you will need to walk back to the starting area. If you are kneeboarding you can wear a pair of old trainers (that you don't mind getting wet) to make walking back
easier. If you are learning to ski or wakeboard trainers won't fit inside the bindings!.
Do I need to book?
Unless you are booking for a large group (6 or more) there is no need to book, just arrive at the cable-ski on the day and book in at the cable ski desk inside the building.
If you are travelling a long way to get to us we recommend giving us a call first to check that we will be open as usual. See our Prices and Booking page for details of cost and opening times. If you want to book
for a group to learn to waterski see our Group's page for more information.
Kneeboarding to Waterskiing
Once you`ve mastered the kneeboard (which can be from your first go to an hour later - everyone is different) then you might want to move onto ski's, this will get you used to standing up on the water with your centre of gravity much higher.
