Thanks to everyone that helped us put together this UK National Wakeboard and Wakeskate event for 2016. The main event sponsors Red Bull, Rixen Cableways, the riders, the spectators, the judges, DJ’s, our amazing cable and cafe staff and regular riders, the BWSW and Cable Committee. The British weather was super generous and both days were HOT, HOT, HOT!. It was great to get such fantastic media interest, with ITV Calendar filming on the qualification day and featuring us on the 6 p.m programme and Sheffield Star and Yorkshire Post Photographer Scott Merrylees also making an appearance!.
The standard of UK Wakeboarding gets higher and higher each year, from the awesome new talent in the mini girls and boys categories (including Sheffield’s very own Grace Lee!) to the hugely competitive top spots in the Men’s and Women’s Open events. Mystic Pro rider Ryan Peacock took 3rd in the Open Mens, with Hyperlite pro rider Nick Davies in 2nd on the podium and the top spot on the day went to O’Brien Rider Jack Battleday. The ladies Open event featured Sheffield Cable Operator Lara Mackay in 3rd, followed by Steph Caller in 2nd and in 1st Katie Batchelor.

Riding highlights for the weekend included Liam Peacock landing the first EVER double flip off the kicker that we have seen at Sheffield Cable! along with Jack Battleday’s mobe 7 attempt!. Keep an eye out on the Red Dot Mediahouse website, video from the event coming soon!.
All that remains to say is once more, a big thanks from Sheffield Cable Waterski to all of you out there who helped make this event such a success. A special mention to our local riders that made the podium, Grace Lee, Phil Lee (yes, father and daughter combo!), Joe Ellis, Chris Dalton, Lara Mackay and special mention to our Cable Operator/ Instructor Tom Bowles who placed 4th in the Open Mens!. Well done Tom.
Who knows, maybe we’ll do it again another year!. See u out there on the water.
