Trainee Lifeguard/ Open Water Lifeguard

This is a seasonal position (April - September)

This position has variable hours (rota basis) which include weekends and bank holidays. Early season there would be a minimum of 1 weekend day plus bank holidays and school holiday working on a rota basis.

There will be three start dates for this role - April 8th and May 26th plus a very small intake for the end of June.

Pay is dependant upon age and experience.

Main Duties

  • Ensuring the safety of all our aqua park customers on the water in accordance with lifeguard training.

  • Greeting customers to the park in a friendly manner.

  • Warning customers of unsafe activities in accordance with training.

  • Communicating with other team members to ensure the safe running of the park.

  • Carrying out first aid and rescues in accordance with training.

  • Issuing hire equipment (buoyancy aids).

  • Greeting customers, checking admission bands and buoyancy aid straps.

  • Daily and regular maintenance duties and cleaning on the inflatables, wetsuit washing and drying.

  • General site cleaning.

The Role

  • Good swimming ability is essential for this position (Click to view what is required). RLSS Open Water Lifeguard training will be provided. Previous lifeguarding qualification would be advantageous but not essential.

  • You will need to be comfortable working outdoors as you will spend most of your time on the lake or dockside.

  • You will need to have good teamwork skills. You will need to work well in a team and be able to communicate effectively with other team members in order to ensure the safe operation of the park.

  • Good communication skills are essential you will need to be able to communicate effectively with customers on the park in order to maintain park safety.

  • The primary focus of this role is to ensure the safety of our customers, in order to achieve this our team need to be able to maintain focus and concentration during quiet and busy periods.

  • This is a customer facing role. In addition to your safety duties as a lifeguard there will also be other duties which you will complete on a rotation basis including: greeting customers, checking admission bands and issuing hire equipment, a friendly and approachable manner is essential.

  • You will be working as part of a team where flexibility is important - you may sometimes be needed to support other staff members in other roles for example assisting our check-in staff with issuing hire wetsuits.
